Welcome to the Zillertal! We recently spent a fantastic weekend there and are excited to share our experiences with you, along with some tips on what you can do in the area.
The Seeblick campsite
Our accommodation was the charming Seeblick campsite, which turned out to be the perfect starting point for our adventures. Located right by the Reintal Lake in Kramsach, Tyrol, the campsite offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
Day 1: Hike to Furtschaglhaus and Thrills at Schlegeis Reservoir
On our first day, we took on a moderate hike to Furtschaglhaus, perched at 2,295 meters. The trail, well-marked and not too challenging despite the rainy weather, offers stunning views of the Schlegeis Glacier. The approximately 2.5-hour hike follows the lake shore and provides fantastic vistas.

For adrenaline seekers, Schlegeis Reservoir offers numerous activities at nearly 2,000 meters, including the Schlegeis 131 via ferrata and the abseiling station. There are also options for younger adventurers, such as a kids’ climbing course. The highlight is the Flying Fox, which lets you soar 600 meters above the Schlegeis Valley – definitely not for the faint-hearted.
Day 2: The 5-Peak Via Ferrata

Our second day was packed with excitement: we tackled the 5-Peak Via Ferrata at Lake Achensee. As experienced climbers, we chose to complete the full route, which was challenging but incredibly rewarding. Beginners can opt to climb just one peak and still enjoy the spectacular views. The benefit of this route is that you can always turn back and easily return to the mountain station.
Day 3: Relaxation at Reintal Lake
After two action-packed days, we decided to take it easy on the third day. We enjoyed a leisurely walk around Reintal Lake, soaking in the serene natural beauty. The lake is also perfect for swimming, offering a refreshing break from the summer heat. There are several cafés and restaurants along the route, so you won’t go hungry or thirsty. Our weekend in the Zillertal was the perfect blend of adventure and relaxation, with a mix of rain and sunshine. Whether you’re into hiking, climbing, or simply enjoying nature, the Zillertal has something for everyone. We hope our experiences and tips inspire you and wish you a fantastic adventure of your own!
