Welcome to Zillertal! We recently spent a wonderful weekend there and would like to share our experiences with you, along with a few tips on what else you can do in the area.
Campingplatz Seeblick
Our home base was the idyllic Campingplatz Seeblick, which turned out to be the perfect starting point for our adventures with the BLACKCAMP. Located directly on Lake Reintal in Kramsach, Tyrol, it offers impressive views of the surrounding scenery.
Day 1: Hike to the Furtschaglhaus and Action at the Schlegeis Reservoir
On our first day, we took a moderate hike to the Furtschaglhaus, located at an altitude of 2,295 meters. The hike offers breathtaking views of the Schlegeis Glacier. The trail was well-marked and, despite rainy weather, not overly demanding, making it a perfect easy start to our weekend. The approximately 2.5-hour hike follows the lake shore, delivering magnificent views across the water.

For the adrenaline junkies among you, the Schlegeis Reservoir offers numerous activities at nearly 2,000 meters above sea level, including the Schlegeis 131 via ferrata and the rappelling station. There are also plenty of options for little adventurers, such as the children's climbing course. The absolute highlight is the Flying Fox, which lets you zip high over the Schlegeis Valley for more than 600 meters—definitely not for the faint-hearted!
The 5-Peaks Via Ferrata

Our second day was packed with thrills: we tackled the 5-Peaks Via Ferrata at Lake Achensee. As advanced climbers, we decided to complete the full route, which proved challenging yet immensely rewarding. Beginners can choose to climb just a single peak while still enjoying the spectacular views. A major advantage of this route is that you can exit the tour at multiple points and easily head back to the cable car station.
Relaxation at Lake Reintal
After two action-packed days, we decided to take it easy on the third day. We enjoyed a peaceful walk around Lake Reintal, immersing ourselves in the gorgeous surrounding nature. The lake is also ideal for swimming, providing a welcome cool-down in the warm weather. There are several cozy cafés and restaurants along the walking trail to grab food and drink. Additional details about the loop trail and swimming spots at Lake Reintal can be found here and here.

Our weekend in the Zillertal was the perfect mix of adventure and relaxation—rain and sunshine included. Whether you love hiking, climbing, or simply taking in nature, the Zillertal has something for everyone. We hope our experiences and tips inspire your journey, and we wish you a fantastic time on your own adventure!
