Sandgold Camping Site

Our base for this adventure was the cozy Sandgold Camping. This idyllic location provided the ideal starting point to explore the surrounding natural beauty. Nestled between towering mountains in Sand in Taufers (Campo Tures), Sandgold Camping is a true retreat. The facility offered everything we needed for a comfortable stay, from modern sanitary facilities to cozy pitches. More information and booking options can be found on their website.

Day 1: Bike Tour to the Göge-Alm

Our weekend kicked off with a relaxed bike tour along scenic cycling paths to the charming Göge-Alm. Starting from Weißenbach (Rio Bianco), the route guided us through lush green valleys and offered a wonderful view of the alpine pasture after about two hours. Along the ride, we soaked in the crisp mountain air and impressive scenery. This route is ideal for nature enthusiasts and cyclists of all skill levels.

Day 2: Hike to the Neves Reservoir and the Edelrauthütte

The following day was dedicated to hiking. We explored the untouched nature surrounding the Neves Reservoir and continued up to the impressive Edelrauthütte. The majestic mountain backdrop allowed us to experience nature in all its glory. The hike was a wonderful way to enjoy the tranquility and beauty of the Alps. We were captivated by the crystal-clear mountain lakes and the striking peaks dominating the landscape.

Day 3: Cultural Program in St. Johann

For a relaxing finish to our weekend, we visited picturesque St. Johann (San Giovanni). Here we strolled through narrow alleys and discovered local craftsmanship. We were particularly fascinated by the traditional woodcarvings and handcrafted textiles. To dive even deeper into the region's history, we visited the Ahrntal Museum, which offered engaging insights into the culture and heritage of the valley.

After a weekend filled with freedom and nature in South Tyrol's Ahrntal, we returned home with countess unforgettable memories nestled in the heart of the Alps. The Ahrntal offers so many opportunities for further adventures that we are certain this won't be our last visit!
